We had a problem with one of our internal flights (airline not Dadamanga related) and Dadamanga got us sorted and kept us informed the whole time. Myself, my husband, and my parents spent... read more a total of 25 days with Dadamanga tours in Madagascar. Our itinerary was always going to be complicated - I wanted to be there for 25 days, my parents only had 16 days, and my husband had 21 days and we were going to have multiple meetings and departures between us all. I also had a lot of ground I wanted to cover to try to find some very specific animals. I was able to see every single animal I hoped (my list had aye ayes, fosas, ring tailed lemurs, indris, and vasa parrots). We even got ridiculously lucky and spotted some tenrecs (which are easier to find in the rainy season), and a whale shark that had come up to Nosy Komba early this year!

From the moment I sent in all the places I hoped to go, everything was easy. An itinerary that checked all of my boxes was sent over, and anytime I had a question it was happily answered. The team managed to make all of my destinations work within the dates we had, and every single person we met and helped us along the way was fantastic. Roberto picked us up from the airport and told us all about Madagascar on our way to the hotel. When my parents bag didn't make it on their flight from France it seemed like the whole team mobilized to help out. We had already left Tana when the bag arrived - and Roberto and Giovanni dealt with the airline and even drove over four hours at night to get the bag to us at our next stop so that they wouldn't be without it for ten days. The day before I was supposed to leave my flight had changed which meant I would be getting in 24 hours earlier than originally planned, and they handled it immediately, changing my pick up and getting my another night at my hotel.

Every hotel check in was assisted by whoever was our guide at the time and all of the hotels were comfortable - some of them exceptional. Two legs of our trip were accompanied by Didi, who was an incredible driver and also just a blast to have around. We had some days of car karaoke and loved that he joined us when we were at the Palmarium. He has an incredibly calm demeanor and even when things went wrong (my mom getting sick on a drive being a top thing), he was patient, made sure we had whatever we needed, and kept us all going.

On one of our legs we were accompanied by Eristor who kept us entertained with lots of stories and myths from Madagascar. He always had tons of energy and enthusiasm - and when one person (me) got very sick on a hike was incredibly patient in walking me back to the car so my husband could carry on and not miss out on the day!

All of the hotels that were booked for us were comfortable with good food - a particular shout out to 293 on Komba where we really enjoyed the small quiet settings. Anyone looking for a tour guide in Madagascar should look no further, especially if you know what you want to see or want a quieter tour without the buses and big groups we saw occasionally. Should our plans bring us back to Madagascar again, we will for sure be repeat customers.

Madagascar can be a challenging country even for seasoned travelers, so it's comforting to have expert local guides and experienced drivers for each leg of the journey. On our third hour of a super long drive on a very bumpy and rural road, we asked our guide what would happen if the car broke down. He told us the lengths the company would go to to get a replacement car to us, and it was reassuring to hear.

We had an amazing trip, and everything went super smoothly, largely thanks to great planning and professionalism from Dadamanga.
